Feature Request: persistent connection

Hello,

I would like to make feature request.
In short, it would be nice to see an option which makes the connection to
be reopen once it's dropped for some reason. Be it keep-alive failure, or
anything else. It could be compared to the 'persist' option in pppd.

Sorry if this has already been requested and declined. In such case could
you please point me to archived thread?

That is a feature that I had been asking for in the past too. For now
I find myself using a supervising daemon (eg. daemontools, or
supervisord) and running VPNC without detaching. This way the daemon
will detect that the connection has gone down and restart VPNC. This
solution has worked very well for me.

I had started some work on this in January, but had to let it rest for
lack of time. Now I intend to pick it up again. You might be interested
in reading on the previous thread, including a patch and description of
memory leak problems. I'll try to continue that same thread.
