[PATCH] backend conditional requests 4th release

Hello all,
Here's yet another version of the patch for backend conditional requests
(IMS). There's no change of function, it's just necessary because some
updates have been committed to the trunk since this morning, so you'll
need this version of the patch to try it with the current trunk.
This patch applies to version 25c5f2ed3229e41e99eadff57374c3a93b41a356
(Mon Mar 7 11:09:03 2011 +0000).
