EMail notifications

I noticed this previous thread on emails. This solution would work ok
if everyone was on the same email domain, which of course my users are
not :). This would be a nice feature to have. I also didn't see the
smtp_domain trac.ini option documented anywhere.

Another question I have is is it possible to select what notifications
are sent? I would like to just have emails sent when someone is
assigned a new ticket, not whenever a change is made to it. Can anyone
suggest a way to do this?

Thanks,
Brian

or just setting the domain s/w instead of mapping each user:

smtp_domain = thyr.de

Any ideas on this?

The smtp_domain suggestion is not currently implemented, though I'm
planning to add it before Trac 0.9. However, in the current development
version Trac will use the email address under the "Settings" for
logged-in users when it sends notifications. So, your users can set up
their email address in Trac and get notifications regardless of what
their domain is.

Trac doesn't allow you to choose what notifications should be sent at
the point. However you can use the RSS feed from the "My Tickets"
report to see when new tickets have been assigned to you.

Thanks, I will give that a try. Glad you don't have to use email
addresses as login names.

Hi, I am fairly new at this but I will try to help.

Do you have a SMTP server setup on the same machine that Trac is on? It
looks like that is what is trying to connect to "smtp_server = localhost",
or is this just a default?

`smtp_server = localhost` is the default, so we really need more
information about where the smtp server that you are trying to send through
resides, like Jaxxa suggests. Generally you won't have to worry about all
of the fields in the [notification] section. There are some example
configurations in the documentation (1). For Trac development I often setup
a Trac instance to send emails via Gmail, using the configuration example
as a guide (2)
