SPF and Sender ID

All,

Is it possible to setup both SPF and Sender ID? I read
some articles and suggestion that they are not
co-exist together.

Thanks.

They can. Sender ID will try to use your SPF record, but you
can set up a Sender ID record as well. We have two, an SPF record and a
Sender ID record that uses "spf2.0/mfrom" to force identical behavior to
our SPF record.

It should be, at least if you are talking about doing your DNS TXT
records so you are protecting your domain as they have different TXT
values and so which is which can be determined. If you are checking
that others have valid SPF/SenderID, it could be more tricky, but
certainly should be doable.

RE: SPF and Sender ID [In reply to]

So you can have both txt files in your dns one for spf and one for sender
id?

For some reason I thought I read somewhere you couldn't, not sure of the
source if I find it I will let you know.

Here is my spf:
v=spf1 mx ip4:72.19.246.107 include:secureserver.net -all

Here is what I thought I would use for sender id:
spf2.0/pra mx ip4:72.19.246.107 include:secureserver.net -all

Now I am confused as to which of these I am supposed to use "spf2.0/pra",
"spf2.0/mfrom", or "spf2.0/mfrom,pra" to start the sender id.

Thanks
Brian

Yes.

"spf2.0/mfrom" is the same meaning as SPF. The "pra" is the
part Sender ID tries to add, so technically those may be different. If
you are happy with your SPF record I would use "spf2.0/mfrom."

RE: SPF and Sender ID [In reply to]

What about just using the last one "spf2.0/mfrom,pra"? From looking at it I
would think you get the best of both but I could be very very very wrong.

It's not really a "best of"...it depends on whether the list of
servers that deliver mail using that domain's MAIL FROM (mfrom) is the
same list as the list of servers that use the From: header (pra) for
that domain. They could be different.
