<dash>-all" instead of."<tilde>~all

This taken from SPF Syntax correct post:

And finally, do you recommend using "<dash>-all" instead of."<tilde>~all"

Why does the wizard ask:

/Do the above lines describe all the hosts

that send mail from planitsolar.com?

/By clicking in the yes box a file is created containing <tilde> ~all. Do I have to change this file to be <dash>-all in order for it to be effective?

Also, I can't find the tools to test the record anymore since the changes on the website at http://old.openspf.org/index.html.

I am grateful for all of the help I have got through this forum. I'm almost ready to publish my file:

"v=spf1 a mx a:smtpauth.sbcglobal.net a:smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com ~all"
or is it <dash>-all?

Paul.

The current wizard has been around for a while and needs some
help. I suspect ~all was used so that people wouldn't create an SPF
record with incorrect info and suddenly start having their mail bounce.

The "new" website moved to "www.openspf.org" so you can find
them there. The new wizard hasn't been completed yet so the old wizard
is being used.

So I have a file ready to send to our web host to change the DNS.
Should this file use tilde first untill I check that it works, then
change it to dash?
Thanks!

That's the suggested method. ~ means SoftFail, in other words
the recipient shouldn't outright reject the message. - means Fail, so
the recipient can treat the message as a fake.
