AOL and Yahoo rejections

Since I added an SPF record to my domain, I've been getting
rejections from aol.com and yahoo.com. Not clear if they are related
to SPF, or if they are from a DNS Blacklist, or something else
altogether. I've tested my SPF and it seems to be valid (results of
port25.com mail check below). I note that my outbound HELO is
ms44.ihwy.net and not mail.rawbits.com, but I'm not sure what I can
do about that. Any expert advice?

the verification process, and as such there is no hard guarantee that
it is the data used during verification. A future version providing
that guarantee is planned.

RE: AOL and Yahoo rejections [In reply to]

Hi, Bill...

I just went through a lot of trouble straightening out a problem
with my mail server and delivery of mail it generated.

I was being blacklisted by GoDaddy.com and SORBS, at the
the very least...not sure about AOL and Yahoo...

The problem turned out to be (at least for SORBS and GoDaddy.com)
that sounds what you described below:

My outgoing mail server identification was not matching my
Reverse DNS...most mail system identify this mismatch as a
spam machine and cut off delivery of your mail.

I run my own mail server and have a static IP, but SORBS was
showing the IP as dynamic, too...another problem.

I straightened out the issue by having my ISP, who assigned
the IP, to change my Reverse DSN (rDNS) to match my
outgoing identifying DNS for my mail server and with 48 hours,
I was off SORBS and unblocked by GoDaddy.com for mail being
routed to clients through their mail servers.

Sounds like your problem is with Reverse DNS...at the very least,
get your Reverse DNS to match mail.rawbits.com...

Rick

Yahoo! Is definitely not related to SPF.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but many ISPs block mail from
dynamic IP ranges in an effort to avoid processing mail from viruses and
pests on infected home computers. AOL states this is their policy
(http://postmaster.aol.com/guidelines/standards.html).
