This seems to be a significant problem. Especially because the error message
(contains control chars) is particularly problematic.

Lets try to get this for 2.62

Hmmm... unfortunately we can not accept this patch without having a CLA on file.

Could you please fill out the form available below:
http://www.apache.org/licenses/cla.pdf
and print/sign/fax or mail to the ASF or print/sign/scan/email to
asf-project [at] spamassassin

Unfortunately, we need this to be able to apply this patch.

Thanks.

fix

no need -- I just clean-roomed it. This patch will ignore empty headers (with
a debug message noting that they were ignored).

Devs -- +/-1s pls.

more correct fix

Actually, scratch that.

This is more appropriate. This emulates what SA 2.50 and earlier did -- which
was to allow an empty "User" string. I suggest we should emulate the earlier
behaviour, even if it seems a little odd ;)

-0.1 the warnings are wrong if empty which I think will just lead to confusion. I'd rather have a ''
case, then followed by the RE version.
