The basic maildir structure could be used for mail formats other than RFC 822. If a maildir is used for 822-compliant messages, the first line will always be Return-Path. If a maildir is used for 822-compliant messages with a stored envelope recipient address, the second line will always be Delivered-To. > BTW, can I *rely* on the fact that every mail in a maildir starts with > "Return-Path:"? If you're using Return-Path and Delivered-To, you should say so in your documentation.
