What's to figure out? Just compile it and try it out.

If you cannot understand the instructions, begin by looking at
http://www.lifewithqmail.org/. If you understand most of it but there
are details you don't understand, ask a concrete question here. But
read this first:

Not sure what you're asking.... We run qmail on a cluster of Suns with Solaris 9.
There were some library issues, IIRC, that prevented CourierIMAP from compiling on
Solaris10, but the core qmail should be fine.
