Is something wrong with SF patch notifications?

I don't think Barry got notes showing that I reviewed his patch.
Also, I didn't get a note when Walter assigned a unittest patch to me.
That may also explain why I had a hard time soliciting a reviewer for
the peepholer patch.

IIRC, we always used to get notes whenever we were assigned a patch or
had participated in the patch discussions.

I got SF email about all these things -- but I'm subscribed to the
patches list, and it doesn't look like you are.

Never the latter. It should generate email to the submitter, and to
the person currently assigned (if any). But since I'm subscribed to
the patches list, I see all changes to all items regardless, and
wouldn't know whether the to-submitter and to-assignee gimmicks
stopped working. I'm pretty sure that at least the to-submitter part
is working, since I've gotten quick replies from infrequent submitters
after adding a comment to their report.

I just got mail when I reopened a patch, and added a comment.

I've found SF's behaviour to be inconsistent at best in this regard -
the only way to get the messages reliably is to subscribe to both the
python-bugs and python-patches lists. (As an aside: Why do we keep both
these lists going? Why not simply point all of the trackers at
python-bugs. I can see no reason why you'd want to know about only one
of the trackers...)

I've failed to get the "personal" notifications (e.g. I don't think I
got a notification when you unassigned the peepholer patch from me).

OTOH, I'm not aware of the python.org lists missing anything.

Filing a SF support request may or may not help (it did last time
something went a bit wrong in this respect).

Cheers,

I didn't, but I'm not sure it's SF's fault. It's possible that such a
message got caught by my Spambayes filters, however I recently built out
a new mail server and my filters were pointing at imap folders on the
old server. So any Unsures or Spam I got in the last week or so were
bit bucketed. I definitely didn't see them in my regular inbox.

I also get patches in a digest and tend to ignore them when swamped.

But I will review your comments on the PEP 292 patch later today.
