Who sent me 'selfloader'?

Who sent me 'selfloader'?

Some weeks/months back someone sent me an AutoLoader replacement
called 'SelfLoader' to try with Tk.

Now I cannot find it - can whoever re-send it, and let me know
what its status is? (e.g. is it intended to replace AutoLoader
in perl distribution or be an add-on module?)

I didn't send it to you, but it is available from
<ftp://ftp.icnet.uk/icrf-public/biu/perlmods/JACKS.html>. See also
Devel::SelfStubber, listed directly beneath it.

I also don't know what its status is, but I'd very much like to see it (and
SelfStubber) included in the standard distribution.

Jack Shirazi developed it with a nudge from me. I think Jack's not
got ready access to the net right now so count me as it's maintainer
meanwhile.

Further to my previous message... it's not intended to replace
AutoLoader but to complement it. The SelfLoader has a different set of
pros and cons and a different performance profile (slower on first
autoload, much faster on later ones). It's horses for courses (and it
allows people to say "there's more than one way to do it" :-)

SelfLoader is particularly well suited to stand-alone .pm files.
Currently for such a module to use the AutoLoader requires the .pm
file to be shipped with a Makefile.PL to make AutoSplitting and
installation easy. That's much more hassle than most module
developers want to bother with and so everyone suffers with
memory bloat.

Thanks I have it now - I really must finish perl/Tk Web stuff
using Mosaic for this stuff is so painful...
