Manually set IP addresses on virtual machines

Hi,

Is there a way of manually set an IP address on a virtual machine that is
running, (or before launching it) without just receiving the first available
in the database.
If you try to manually ssh to a machine and change it, it wont work and the
network-manager logs errors about leasing i think

I am asking this because i want to specify ips on my machines before
launching them in the cloud.

regards
