Re: Ntop Digest, Vol 65, Issue 12

Hi All. Thank you all for the fast reply. The micro bursts I'm dealing with are very interesting. for example. I have a leased line of 10Mb from point to point and my application uses udp to send data. the application running on a server with 1Gb interface. The application sends on the average 1000Kbs when I'm looking in one minute average but If I will draw a graph using wireshark I'm able to see that during a fraction of a milliseconds the application sends 40 Kbps while the maximum of 10 Kbps is allowed per millisecond.(10Mbps=10240Kbps/1000 = 10.24K per millisecond.) my application is very latency affected. I have two options to deal with the problem above. 1. I can set the nic on the server to 10Mb and the operating system will throttle the data, But I wish to copy files locally from that server as well. 2. Throttling the data somehow on the application layer. But I need to know that I'm suffering from this problem and in my case I have dozen of the same application running I can't spend all day wiresharking and filtering the data with 12 different filters. Many Thanks Dudu. > From: ntop-request[at]listgateway.unipi.it > Subject: Ntop Digest, Vol 65, Issue 12 > To: ntop[at]listgateway.unipi.it > Date: Sun, 11 Oct 2009 23:20:11 +0200 > > Send Ntop mailing list submissions to > ntop[at]listgateway.unipi.it > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > ntop-request[at]listgateway.unipi.it > > You can reach the person managing the list at > ntop-owner[at]listgateway.unipi.it > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Ntop digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1.
