NAPI ou TNAPI support with Intel 82571EB

Hi,

I installed PF_RING with 2.6.31.1 kernel but I would know how to
enable NAPI (or, if possible TNAPI too) in the Intel 82571EB. Is
necessary some special driver?

Thanks for attention,

Leonardo Andrade.

Hi Leonardo,

>From the TNAPI page http://www.ntop.org/TNAPI.html you require specific
Intel NIC to be able to use TNAPI:

- 1 Gbit: Intel 82575/82576 (Linux driver igb 1.3.x)
- 10 Gbit: Intel 82598/82599 (Linux driver ixgbe 2.0.x)

There is also a small fee required to purchase TNAPI:
http://www.nmon.net/shop/cart.php

Standard NAPI should be enabled by default by the E1000 and E1000E drivers.

Beyers

Hi Beyers,

Thanks for information!

I will test PF_RING performance with 82571EB in my current network
traffic and verify if NAPI support is sufficient with my server.
Otherwise, i will think in adquire 82575 and TNAPI.

Thanks a lot,

Leonardo Andrade.

Leonardo
571 does not work. You need 575 at lease

Cheers Luca
