MLX8 Errors

Hello,

One of my mlx8's which was working fine beginning last night started to continuously flap between vrrp-e backup and vrrp-e master states

I am also seeing the below errors on a regular basis. Has anyone encountered something similar? Are these errors indicative of a management module hardware fault?

P.S. reloading this mlx has not helped

process_keep_alive: cancel timer for slot 2
process_keep_alive: cancel timer for slot 1
WARN: Read LP slot 2 sensor 2 temperature failed

Thank you
-Anand

Re: MLX8 Errors [In reply to]

If the chassis contains another management module, did you try switching to it?

Re: MLX8 Errors [In reply to]

Matt, there is no redundant management module on this chassis, nothing in the logs really tell me 100% that it's a flaky management module.

I was unable to get more information on what these errors exactly mean (btw we just have two 4x10G modules in slot1 and slot 2 on this chassis)

Re: MLX8 Errors [In reply to]

Did you open a case with Brocade support? It could be the management
module, but a problem with one of the line modules may also produce
obscure error messages.

Re: MLX8 Errors [In reply to]

Can you do a show version? When we see the "Read LP slot 2 sensor 2
temperature failed" alarm we check to see if there is an I2C bus issue.

Re: MLX8 Errors [In reply to]

Is it a trunk/lag ?

If so, check the status of all ports, see if traffic is somewhat
properly balanced, there's no drops or errors on the interfaces and try
disabling individual ports to see if there may be a faulty optic or port
on the blade involved.

If that doesn't show anything, I suggest opening a case with TAC
