Basically, I am looking for MLX deployment for my small aggregations (in
terms of bandwidth and port density) in scenario where multiple L2 metro
rings terminates at one PoP and then enters in MPLS network and then to
Internet. For this either I need to have physical switches for each
ring or logically divide the one MLX. Basically I don't want mulitple
switches and routers in my one small PoP and want to do the job with one
MLX.
Eg. I will be having 20Gig ports in an MLX, I want logically divide
the router into multiple virtual/logical router eg.
Port 1-3 will be used for VR1 (L2) where Port 1 and 2 will be part of
small L2 metro ring A running MSTP and dot1Q/Q-in-Q and Port 3 will
uplink/x connect to Port 7 which would be in VR3 running MPLS
Port 4-6 will be used for VR2 (L2) where Port 4 and 5 will be a part
small metro ring B running MSTP and dot1Q/Q-in-Q and Port 6 will
uplink/xconnect to Port 8 which would be in VR3 running MPLS.
Remaining ports from 7 to 20 will be use for VR3 (L3) which connects to
MPLS.
The communication between metro ring A and metro ring B would be via VR3
(L3) through MPLS by mapping to customer circutits for L2vpn to VPLS
between metro would be done based one Cvid or Svid.
May be I also want to have VR4 which will connect me to my upstream for
the Internet doing a Ebgp. I am confused whether the intercommunication
between muliple VRs (L2 and L3) can be without doing physical x-connect
between the VR and logically.
