Hanging NDMP backup sessions?

Hi all,

Is anyone else seeing hanging backup sessions under 7.2.6.1 when doing
NDMP backups to a directly attached FC LTO4 tape drives, using
CommVault 7.0.0 Update 76 Version #### software?

For example:

> ndmpd status
ndmpd ON.
Session: 79
Active
version: 4
Operating on behalf of primary host.
tape device: not open
mover state: Idle
data state: Idle
data operation: None

> backup status

Now I know I can just do:

> backup terminate #

to cleanup these sessions, but I'm wondering why I'm seeing them in
the first place, esp since my other sites running the same software
and OSes aren't seing these issues, or at least not to as great a
degree. It could be that I've mis-configured CommVault somehow...

Thanks for the info, though in my case I'm not sure if that's
completely the issue, since it looks like the NDMP session(s) tend to
go away properly, but the backup sessions don't terminate properly,
which leads to NDMP failures when they can't allocate new backup
sessions.

In any case, I'll login to NOW and see what I can find in terms of the
changes between 7.2.6.1 and 7.2.6.1P2 that relate to NDMP.

I just checked and I don't see any backup or NDMP bugs between 7.2.6.1
and 7.2.6.1P2 or P3 at all. Do you have a BugID you can share?
