MythGame does nothing

Running MythTV 0.16 in Slackware 10, most things work fine, but MythGame does not. It recognizes my list of games, but when I select one of them to play, it does nothing - no errors, no screen change, nothing. I can play them fine from the cli with xmame. I also created a gamelist.xml with other apps for it to run (saw this tip somewhere online) so I could play TuxRacer for example. It shows up in the list, but still does nothing when I press Enter on it. Again, it plays outside of MythTV ok.

Any clues?

It should print you a command line it tried to run to standard error. If you
copy and paste that line and run it xmame will give you an error. If this
happens then the problem is you are using a too new version of xmame. Either run
the cvs version of myth of downgrade your xmame to 0.86/

I don't believe this is the problem because it even does nothing when trying
to run something like TuxRacer. MythGame will run any external program you
configure it for in gamelist.xml. Nothing is printed to the console when I
select something. Plus, I currrently do have xmame 0.86 installed.
