Upgrading to CVS

So i Installed mythtv via apt-get and then ran into the record bug so i
decided to install it via CVS. I followed the guide
http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/UpgradeToCvsHowTo . Now when I run
mythtvsetup I get the following error:
mythtvsetup: error while loading shared libraries: mythsetup:
undefined symbol: _ZN11MythContextC1ERK7QStringbb
I never uninstalled mythtv-suite do I have too? If I do how?
What should I do?

Re: Upgrading to CVS [In reply to]

I was having the same problem.

Check out this thread:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/93231

It's a long thread but check out message #5. There Jarod told me that the
problem was caused by some myth components left behind even after I did
apt-get uninstall mythtv. His solution worked for me.

Re: Upgrading to CVS [In reply to]

I did run the rpm -e `rpm -qa | grep myth` and I did the MythTV step
again describe in http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/UpgradeToCvsHowTo
document but now I cant run mythtvsetup i get a missing mythtvsetup
command not found error. I did an updatedb and locate mythtvsetup and
theres nothing. What should I do now? So far i have done:
installed MythTV via apt-get
then followed-> http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/UpgradeToCvsHowTo
got a undefined symbol error
ran the rpm -e `rpm -qa | grep myth` command
Redid the MythTV step @ http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/UpgradeToCvsHowTo

I cant run the front end I get an error:
could not connect to LCDd: connection refused
loads up I click watch TV and I get an error Could not connect to the
master backend server.

How can I configure if I cant run mythtvsetup?

And the very first line of the UpgradeToCvsHowTo is functionally equivalent:

# rpm -q -a | grep myth | xargs "rpm -e"

Same result as:

# rpm -e `rpm -qa | grep myth`

Just putting these out there so list searches turn them up...

Apparently, you didn't. :-)

Did you edit settings.pro and enable LCD stuff? If the frontend still runs,
you can safely ignore the error though. I thought the LCD bit was off by
default, but I may be mistaken.

Gotta start the backend.

mythtvsetup is the ATrpms name for the setup util when packaged in rpm form.
In its original form, it is path/to/source/mythtv/setup/setup, so run that
instead.

Do you have an /etc/rc.d/init.d/mythbackend file? What happens when you try to
start it manually using the init script?

# /sbin/service mythbackend start

Also, did you modify settings.pro w/the HowTo's suggested PREFIX=/usr, or did
you leave it at the default /usr/local? Gotta make sure you set MBE_LOCATION
in /etc/sysconfig/mythbackend to match.

That's all I've got for the moment, time to head home for the day...
