uk dvb hardware - WinTV-Nova-t PCI

I'm looking at building a mythtv setup in the UK, based on a Freeview / DVB
PCI receiver.

I've read quite a few reports of people building systems based on the WinTV
nova based cards. I've seen various Happague Freeview cards for sale - does
anyone have experience of the one sold by ebuyer in the UK? They describe
it as "Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-t PCI Freeview Receiver for 38 Plus Channels in
DVD Quality DVB Radio / Remote control"

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.htmlrb=2649306720&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=27669 .

It's only £53 + VAT, which is significantly cheaper than many of the over
Freeview cards I've seen...

Thanks,

Luke.

Sounds like pretty much the same as mine from www.microdirect.co.uk,
which I believe is of a similar price too :)

If you don't need the remote, check out http://tinyurl.com/6ex9d.

Re: uk dvb hardware - WinTV-Nova-t PCI [In reply to]

I just got one from ebuyer - and it works fine with a very new kernel
& driver patches. (The box said that it's a nova-t 909, but the card
had a sticker with 90002 on it, and the connections on the board don't
match the docs - so I think they're actually shipping another model. I
don't think that is ebuyers fault - I'd guess it's done by the
manufacturer.)

The chipset for my board uses the c8xx driver - the patches you need
are on the video4linux site.

I haven't got the remote working yet, and this link suggests that the
drivers can't do it yet:
http://pvrguide.no-ip.com/bbs-old/viewpost/35952.html

Aside from the remote the card works very nicely, and I'm hoping
remote supprt will come along one of these days.

I couldn't get the remote working either, but yes the 90002 does come
in a 909 box :) I've been running 2 of them for several weeks quite
happily now.

I think all the nova-t cards come with the standard "grey" Hauppauge
remote. LIRC knows how to decode the signals from these guys, so you
just need a suitable receiver. I'm using the Schmid-Lindner one from
www.zapway.de, which seems to work fine.
