Sure, but at the price of those remotes, I might as well just use a PocketPC or Palm Pilot. I'd get more functionality that way, starting with a browser... -Khanh Tran khanh [at] khanh -----Original Message----- From: Bruce Markey [mailto:bjm [at] lvcm] Sent: Sunday, March 21, 2004 3:13 PM To: Discussion about mythtv Subject: Re: [mythtv-users] IR to PS/2 Khanh Tran wrote: > This may have been asked already, but with all the involvment in > getting and IR receiver to work via lirc to MythTV, has anyone made an > IR to > PS/2 device? Does such a thing exist for IR remotes? Several of us user an IR keyboard and learning remote control. If they are compatible, you can "learn" the standard myth keys on the appropriate buttons for the remote. This way you can do anything from either the remote or the keyboard through the same interface. No LIRC needed. The trick is that not all remotes can learn from any keyboard. I use "Marantz RC2000 Mark II" remotes and LiteOn "Airboard" keyboards. These work just fine. However, in testing some other cheap learning remotes, none for them were able to understand more than a handful of keys. The Airboard is by far the best IR keyboard I've used. However, I also have a Chicony keyboard that almost any learning remote will seem to understand. > Wouldn't this > be easier? Yes. -- bjm
