Mythmusic - no audio output [0.25]

Upgraded recently from 0.24 to 0.25, so many things to like about the
new version.. love both the video and audio setup portions.. neat to
see myth recognize and identity the device on the other end of the
HDMI.. makes it easy to figure out which one it is!

Anyway, all audio related to video playback (mythvideo, mythtv) is
working fine, but I can't get a PEEP out of mythmusic. I've tried
setting the device by hand, choosing "default" etc.. .no audio.

I can use mplayer/vlc/etc from the command-line so I know it works..
here's an example of what shows up in the logs:

again, to be clear, audio works with video flawlessly... (and yes,
DEV=9 is the correct one)

Ideas? Feel like I'm missing something obvious..

Try disabling the upmixer in mythmusic settings.

You've set it to use AC3 with upmixing, and obviously, your audio
device doesn't support it

Tried that, sadly no changes.

2012-08-10 22:58:44.438452 I AO: Opening audio device
'plughw:CARD=NVidia,DEV=9' ch 6(2) sr 44100 sf signed 32 bit reenc 0
2012-08-10 22:58:44.650694 N Suspending idle timer
[mp3 @ 0x252f730] max_analyze_duration reached
[mp3 @ 0x2265850] max_analyze_duration reached
2012-08-10 22:58:48.625956 N Suspending idle timer

mythmusic never increments the position within the track, beginning to
think perhaps it's an issue with mp3 playback, but tried it with FLAC
files, same issue.

Mine started working after I set mythmusic to "default" from the blank
(took me several mins to figure it out). However, you stated that you
tried this already. Ultimately, the interface for mythmusic was too
complicated for me, all I wanted was to browse files then start playing
music, so I switched to xbmc for my music solution.

Two weeks later, still painful/not working. Setting the audio device
to "default" worked.. once.. then after rebooting, didn't work again..
haven't been able to make it work since.

Hoping 0.26 unbreaks mythmusic.
