I have not, but I did some research on it, and apparently there is no
difference as far as the hardware for recording/encoding goes. I
believe the big difference was the cables it came with, the software
it came with, and that it does not have the IR blaster port.

that said, for a short time it was cheaper, but now they are about the
same price as each other, sale pricing being the only difference.

I don't see why it would not work just fine for MythTV use though as
long as you don't need the IR blaster port.

IIRC, and to confirm what Steven mentioned, its essentially the same
unit (green vs blue led's) but it doesn't come with the standard cables
- just with this breakout cable to attach to your xbox's/ps3's/wii's
proprietary ports. So basically you'll have to supply your own cables -
for most of us on this list we probably already have extras kicking
around, but it you don't, you'll need to take that cost into account.

Not to contradict Steven, as I'm not positive on this, but I was under
the impression that it still had the IR emitter (so sorry guys, this
isn't away around the ir/kernel bugs that some guys have been having).

Cheers,

Andrew.

For the IR blaster, the physical connector is still on the back of
unit and fully functional, however the product does not ship with the
IR blaster cable (which you could buy separately from
http://store.hauppauge.com for something like $6.00 if you really
needed it).

ah, that's what it was, it just didn't ship with the IR cable!

so, LED color and cables it sounds like.

I can confirm that for recording it is functionally identical to the
non-gaming version. I haven't tried to add an IR blaster.
