Just setup mythtv last week and I'm > thrilled with it. If you delete the tables, you'll almost definitely cause problems if you ever want to re-install them. Ideally, if you want empty tables, you'd have cleared out the data before uninstalling, by pointing them to an empty directory and rescanning. That said, they take up almost no space compared to the rest of the DB and won't hurt anything--whether they're populated or not.
