mythbackend hangs at: Upgrading to MythTV schema version 1304

I just upgraded to git head (was running from a compile in April), compiled
and I'm trying to get mythbackend started. It gets to the upgrade step
moving the DB to schema version 1304 and seems to hang there. I see the
hard drive light flickering and mysql appears to be going to town but the
log is just sitting there. Is this upgrade very involved or is something
wrong with my DB? Any suggestions on proceeding?

Thanks,
-Greg

Never mind on this one. It took about a half hour, while it was running I
did some googling and found that it was UTC time zone commit. I'm guessing
it took so long because it updated all the date/time stamps in the DB to
UTC time instead of my specific timezone.

And note that if you stopped the upgrade while it was in progress and
then re-started and let it finish, you probably corrupted your DB data.
If so, restore the pre-upgrade backup and then let it complete without
interruption.

While it will not help those with myisam db's, I wonder if a feature
patch adding start transaction;commit (and backout the failure cases)
in the performActualUpdate routine would be accepted (for those with
acid compliant engines). It would increase some resource usage,
but could help deal with some failure modes.
