0.25 - Video repeated "Scan For Changes" forgets things?

Hi,

I've a bunch of Videos on my MythTV Videos section (not recordings).

However when I do "Scan For Changes" sometimes things aren't found. If I
scan again, sometimes they come back, maybe other things disappear. I have
all my personal rips on a single external hard drive - twice now all the
meta-information has disappeared from these files.

Is there any way to debug what is going on ?

thanks,
-kt

Usual first recommendation is to set your storage group directory to an
empty folder, run a scan and then set it back to your videos folder and
scan again.

This clears out any crud from the database that may be causing problems.

And make sure you've set your "local" (non-Storage-Group) videos
directory setting to be blank.

I had this again today.

It seems that the external USB hard drives are in sleep mode.
Perhaps they do not come online quick enough .. in the syslog we get these
messages:

And all the files disappear.
If you "Scan For Changes" again, they're back, but with no meta data.
So then I have a nearly a thousand files to re-meta.

Is this worthy of a bug report?
Is it a bug ?

thanks,
-kt

IMHO, no. We're doing the best we can with the information we
have--i.e. when the files we saw disappear (in this case because your
file system isn't working), we assume you deleted them. You can switch
to a non-USB connection for reliability, or just ensure you "manually"
spin up/"renew" the USB connection to the drives before doing a Video
Library scan.

Raymond Wagner will be including a rewrite of the scanner in a future
version of MythTV which will better cope with
umounted/broken/missing/... file systems, so when we support that
feature, it will fix any problems you're having with your current setup.
