0.25-fixes Watch Recordings doesn't load except for first time after launching on some ION machines

of the 4 ION frontends I have, only two will fully load and release
from the progress bar every time, the other two will sit with the
progress bar going and I have to restart mythfrontend for it to fully
load after the first time going into Watch Recordings.

anyone else notice this?

Recently in Master, there was a several-day performance regression
that resulted in this behavior all the time on all of my ION
frontends. While the progress bar was animating, nothing else
happened yet the CPU was at 100%. My theme's base.xml has a section
like this:

<imagetype name="animation">
<area>415,340,33,33</area>
<filepattern low="0"
high="11">images/widgets/busy/busy_%1.png</filepattern>
<delay>100</delay>
</imagetype>

Changing the "delay" element from 100 (milliseconds) to something
larger like 300 or 1000 fixed the problem. Or more accurately, worked
around the problem.

This performance regression never hit the -fixes branch, but whatever
race condition was being hit is probably still lurking in 0.25-fixes
and Master, and may be affecting you.

It seems a bit premature for me to send this, but I've just had a 'fail
to load' the watch recordings screen in 0.24-fixes. Don't remember
seeing this before. Quit and restart frontend made no difference; ok
after restarting both BE/FE. UPnP server unaffected, system status
showed EIT data up to date but no info on tuner status etc.

This is on Fedora 16, 64-bit from ATrpms, build date 30 April. There
was a big KDE _and_ mysql update this morning.

That's good to hear, particularly to know that the problems is
probably not from the code that has been added post-0.25.

Which theme are you using, and what was the original "delay" value?

Tinted Glass, I wrote the author and he did a quick test and said he'd
change the theme and release an update.

I forget what the original value was, but it was low and I changed it to 300.

Based on https://github.com/MythTV-Themes/TintedGlass/commit/163fb5156e05feccd0bc5d0557a3366270139943
, it looks like the original value was 14ms, so everything is adding
up to the same issue. I'll keep an eye on it.
