Telus and IPTV

Telus and IPTV

Looking for HDPVR alternatives and was wondering if anyone is
capturing Telus IPTV directly without going though a HDPVR? (yes, I
have developed a recent dislike for the HDPVR - just tired of the sync
and lockup issues)

I looked into this recently and it appears this was once possible when
they first rolled out their service, but since then they have switched
to using "Microsoft Media Room" whose streams are currently possible to
record without using something like an HDPVR.

I use Telus HD with my HDPVR ( IRBlaster as well ) and have essentially
zero issues with it.

I am also using a Telus Optik HD tuner with my HDPVR. As long as my
HDPVR is kept well-ventilated, it seems to work smoothly. However, I
have noticed that the black levels and image sharpness are
dramatically worse than Shaw's firewire capture or ATSC OTA
recordings. Do you fellow users have any suggestions for tweaking it?
