0.25 - livetv fails when starting on a specific channel

I'm running 0.25 from about a week ago. Today I discovered a case
where livetv consistently won't work if I start on a particular
channel. If I start on another channel and switch to that channel, it
works fine. However if I start on that channel it hangs for about 10
seconds before dumping back to the menu with the "error opening
jumpfile" message. However, I've noticed that even though it doesn't
playback, the 10 second file is created, and if I go into the
"recorded programs" screen and switch to the livetv group, the
recording is there and it plays fine. I also did some testing with
mplayer, where as soon as I start mythtv in livetv and it's waiting
for the video to start, I quickly switch to mplayer and begin to play
the mpg file, and the file works fine. So it's not a case where the
data isn't making into the file (or the data isn't being flushed) in a
timely manner, because mplayer is seeing it just fine at the same time
that myth can't.

Backend log:
http://pastebin.com/TxZTJi3j

Frontend log:
http://pastebin.com/MaGuvBw6

Anyone have any ideas? The only thing I see in those logs that stands
out to me is that myth says it can't access the file, but as I said,
mplayer can just fine. It doesn't seem to matter if I use VDPAU or
not.

I did some more debugging on this. Turning off the AlwaysStreamFiles
setting files seems to let playback work on this channel. I couldn't
find that setting in the setup screens (was it removed in 0.25?) so I
just disabled in the database and that took care of it. Still don't
know why it's just that one channel that fails for streaming. Any
ideas?

Which channel is it? And do you have any other info about that channel.
Off the top of my head (ie a WAG), the channel does not correctly
broadcast a PAT, PMT, PDA, ADA, IRS, CIA or other 3-letter acronym in
the stream.

It's channel 270, Planet Green HD on Wide Open West in Michigan. Like
I said, the channel works fine as long it's either not streamed from
the backend, or it's not the starting channel for live tv. So at least
the PAT and PMT are there and working. Don't know about any of those
other 3 letter acronyms (though I hope the CIA isn't keeping tabs on
what I'm watching)

This sounds like the issue you get when you use NFS but don't use
actimeo=1 or actimeo=0. I don't know why it would affect one channel
more than another, but except maybe it uses a lower bitrate?

Nah, NSA does that!

Something has changed recently with liveTV in that it doesn't buffer enough
and you find that playback isn't good until you pause for 4-5 seconds...

We are aware of this issue.

I poster earlier the trac ticket tracking this issue..
You can either wait for someone to fix it (DanielK is the one with the
expertise to fix it), or help by adding to the ticket verbose logs using -v
channels, playback and a log level of debug.

But having seen some of the stuff you've worked on before (some of them
used as-is in the code, like browsing all channels) I'm sure you could have
a shot at it.

There is some chance that this is related to #10490 which I have been
spending a lot of time on. I'd appreciate hearing if any of the
recent #10490 related commits to Master have any effect on the
situation.

And to add to what Jean-Yves said, I have found it most useful to have
matching frontend and backend logs with "-v most, novbi --loglevel
debug" to pore through.

You did? In my thread, or was this in another thread? The only message
I received from you in this thread was the one where you mentioned
about having to pause for 4-5 seconds in livetv. First of all, I
didn't see a trac link in that message, and second, that was only a
secondary issue I was mentioning. The primary issue which this thread
was about was the fact that I cannot enter live tv when the default
channel it want to tune (ie: the channel it last exited livetv on) is
set to 1 specific channel (all other channels work fine, and that 1
channel works fine as long as it's not the first channel).

> I'm sure you could have a shot at it.

Well, I'm kind of already having the feeling this is obscure enough
that nobody else will be able to replicate it if noone else is already
experiencing it already, so I was already thinking that might be the
only option. But for this, I have no idea where to even begin looking.
I didn't know if anybody had ever seen anything like this, or had any
clues what could cause this. By the nature of it, it seems like I'd be
looking for something particular in the TS packet stream, but if the
stream works fine for recordings, and works fine as long as it's not
the first channel tuned, then I'm not sure what it could be.

I'm pretty sure that it's all the same problem.. If for some reason you
can't tune to a channel when entering liveTV, it doesn't fall back to
another channel and simply return to the main menu...

There's a lot of area where a fall-through behaviour isn't implemented
either. It works 100% or it simply fail.
The other issue I have in this fashion are the playback profiles, if one
fail half-way, you get no video it doesn't try follow-up entries

Thanks, I didn't see that other message of yours. I think that other
message is somewhat related, but not entirely. Certainly the symptoms
are the same...when it fails to tune it kicks you out...and a
workaround for that problem would certainly cover up the problem I'm
having. However, I think they are different. In that thread it is
talking about a channel that legitimately cannot be tuned. In my case,
the channel works perfectly fine, as long as it isn't the first
channel you try to tune.
