What about if you run it from the local disk rather than the mounted image ?

Did you compile your own frontend or download it from somewhere. If download, where from?

Are you able to access your backend from other machines?

It doesn't crash at startup, but it locked up my mac and I had to hard
reset it..

It's a MBP i7 running 10.6.5

I'm just getting my head around how to compile now, hopefully by late
tonight I may have one I compiled that works.

The problem turned out to be incompatibility with leopard, once I
upgraded to 10.6 then it ran fine.

Is there any benefit to be gained from compiling your own?

probably not if a generic work for you.

The build from the web site you gave crashes my mac... while the one I
compiled work for me..

Since you've got it working now, are you running analog or digital audio?. I think the long-suffering Mac bug <http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/5552> is still there, but it would be nice to know if it works for someone.

That is great news...I didn't know you were testing on OS X?!? Could you just confirm some details for me? OS X 10.5.x or 10.6.x? Which model(s) of Mac? Are you playing back MPEG2 or something else?

Macbook Pro.

Had pretty much all models as they come out.

The one I currently have is a 2.8GHz i7 unibody I got last week.

I haven't tested on this one fully though, just checked that the
optical port do light up...

It worked with my i5 unibody when I tried about 4 months ago.

I'll try again and see if I can get to not work and will look into it
if this is indeed broken
