mythtv-database package in debian stable

Hi all,
I'm running debian stable; I use mythtv precompiled packages from
debian.multimedia (http://debian-multimedia.org/).

Yesterday I upgraded some mythtv packages that were pending for an upgrade.
For the package "mythtv-database" when I try to upgrade I keep getting
this error:

First bit of advice... Most of the developers (and likely most of the
users) are English speaking and will not be able to help you at all with
Italian (?) errors.

I'm italian, i'm lucky.... i can understand.. :-)

The new package was correctly installed, but the configuration fails,

I use trunk compiling mythtv, i haven't ever see this error, but i think it means you have wrong root password in some mythtv config files (maybe some ~/mythtv/config.xml or /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt)

try to reconfigure the package with
dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database

it should ask the root password.

but if it works now without any kind of problems you could consider to do nothing, maybe the database has been upgraded by mythbackend itself...
I don't know what else the mythtv-database package should do...

In a different reply (from a not subscribed mail address, thus that mail is
waiting in limbo), I notified the package maintainer about this.

I checked the two files yesterday when i got the aptitude error.
Everything seem fine.

That error happens all the time when installing on slave backends.
Somehow the whole database and mysql package gets installed along with
the salve backend totally unnecessarily. There needs to be two debian
packages for the mythtv-backend, one for the master backend which
requires all the database stuff, and one for the slave backend which
does not.

Thx for the info.
But the system on which the error occurs is the only backend in my
setup.

Actually, the mythtv-backend package only "Recommmends" the mythtv-database
package, rather than depending on it. This means that apt will install it by
default, but you can remove it without apt complaining.

I found in list archives

someone had similar problems.
So I tried to set a blank mysql root passwd, and rerun
"aptitude upgrade"

this time the command went smooth.

Anyway I don't think is a brilliant idea to leave that password blank!
