TechniSat CableStar not working with recent s2-liplianin

Hi to all

I have a TechniSat CableStar HD 2 and installed it according to
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Technisat_CableStar_HD2. The
modules seemingly compile and install ok. There is a warning during the
compilation about cu1612 being referenced but not used. That might be
part of the problem, because this module has to be loaded for that card.

After a reboot mythbackend freezes and the system shutdown hangs,
continually trying to restart mythbackend.

I have tried Mythbuntu 10.4 and Mythdora 12.23. Both systems show the
same symptoms.

So either my card is defect or there is a bug in the latest Mantis
driver. Can anyone confirm this?

I have found a thread in a German Ubuntu forum from Dec. 2009 speaking
of the same phenomenon with the recent driver and the same card
(http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/technisat-cablestar-hd-2-einrichten/).
One user had succeeded using an older version of s2-liplianin. I
downloaded this version from his rapidshare account, but it doesn't
compile on my system.

Does anybody have a workaround or do I have to abandon the comforts of
DVB-C?

Thanks for help or a hint,

Sven

Hi Sven,

try this way:

o In the s2-lilianin source directory type 'make rminstall'

o Reinstall the kernel header package since rminstall removes a file
which is needed later

o configure the vdr repository

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yavdr/testing-vdr
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:henningpingel/xbmc
sudo aptitude update

o install the s2-liplianin-dkms package

sudo apt-get install s2-liplianin-dkms

That worked for me under Ubuntu 10.04. Unfortunately Ubuntu 10.04 seems
to be unuseable for me since I have there some unexpected jumps forward
/ backwards when viewing videos. So I am building up now a mthtv under
fedora 13.

Regards
Michael
