pulseaudio and 0.23

Hey all,

Has anything at all been done in 0.23 to ease life with pulseaudio? Of
course, the cat's ass would be that mythfrontend works just peachy with
PA.

But in the least, it would be nice if the change I had suggested earlier
about having mythfrontend only suspend PA when it's starting playback of
an audio or video file rather than when it starts (thus disabling PA
even when it's just sitting at a menu).

Cheers,
b.

Howdy Brian,

If you don't do any seeking, it might be usable:

Is there an implication in those tickets (i.e. that one can configure
audio as being PulseAudio:default) that some forward progress has been
made on using pulseaudio at least and that in 0.23 it's not considered
the pariah that it is with 0.22?

The first link seems to indicate that simply enabling internal volume
controls alleviates the issue. Is it not quite that simple?

Although the fact that multiple sound cards get probed in different
order on each boot, making the use of "plughw:x,y" a PITA is problematic
enough. I'd be happy enough if Mythfrontend didn't just outright suspend
PA on start up. Having fully supported PA support would be wonderful
though. Then I wouldn't give a rat's ass what order the sound cards
were probed in.

I've been running mythfrontend configured to use "PulseAudio:default"
for a few weeks and haven't noticed any issues. This is on 0.23-fixes
compiled from SVN (not mythbuntu) on ubuntu 9.10.
