Using a real time (RT) kernel

I have been reading more about RT kernels and am interested to hear
what people think about using RT kernels with MythTV. It seems to make
sense to me because MythTV machines are typically doing 1 (maybe 2)
things at high priority. It makes even more sense to do this if you
have a separate frontend/backend to run a RT kernel on the frontend so
that playback and audio are as smooth as possible.

Does anyone have experience with running a RT kernel with MythTV?
What could be other pros/cons to running a RT kernel?

Thanks for the feedback.
