DVBWorld DVB-S2 6980 Dual PCI-E Card....Does it really work?

Guys

The DVBWorld DVB-S2 Dual PCI-E Card is supported in the latest version
of the Kernel, however going through the list there seems to be mixed
stories about whether it works very well.

Does anyone on the list have more then one of these cards installed in
their backend and have it working correctly?

Can they be sourced in Europe somewhere (I'm somewhat loath to get
them from China), if not would anyone else be interested in a group
buy?

Thanks in advance.

Would this be the same card?:
http://www.tbsdtv.com/english/product/6980.html (I don't see the DVBWorld
name on that site)

I have been looking at this card and seriously consider it for my backend. I
had gotten in touch with someone who's TBS' agent in The Netherlands. He
offered me to try this card with a money back guarantee. That was some time
ago, so not sure if the offer is still on. He had the single tuner variety
running on Ubuntu and MythTV 0.22.

If you want I could try and get back in touch with that agent to see what's
possible for a group buy.

I think the 6920 is the single tuner version? I'm not sure that
testing that one would satisfy me before ordering as recently on the
list someone was stating they were having problems using more then one
6980 installed at the same time.

If you contact would be willing to lend you a couple I think there are
possibly enough people on the list who may be interested subject to
cost.

Regards

I believe you're right about the 6920 being the single tuner variety.
Lending me a couple would be great, but I doubt that I could arrange that
:-) Even if I could try a few of these twintuner cards, then my dish would
not have enough LNB connections to do a proper test with all inputs
recording simultaneously. Let me send him an email and see if the money back
offer is still up and if and how a group order could be arranged. Where do
you live? UK?

I'd also just like to express my interest in this in the medium term -
I'd be looking to upgrade to a card along these lines at some point.
Also UK based.

James.

Gotten in touch with the NL based agent. He has sold quite a few already and
from reading his replies he's familiar with Linux and MythTV, which is a big
plus.

There seem to be some softcam issues (which I cannot delve into as that is
totally against the lists rules) in combination with the driver for this
card. Because of these issues I may wait a while until getting one of these
cards myself and see how the driver development goes.

For whom's interested, I can provide the email address so you can get in
touch. I wont post it in the list, so if you're interested contact me off
list and I'll send it to you.

Why not post it on the list?

The whole point of a group buy is to not fragment.

True, but I'm not sure if it is "netiquette" to post email addresses from
people that did not subscribe to the list (because of SPAM etc.). Let me
check with him. He may not care if I post it.

The Netherlands based agent for TBS is Gino. He agreed on me posting his
email adres (slightly obfuscated against spambots): djieno - at - djieno .

You'd want a multiswitch - no need for more than 4 LNB outputs, the
multiuswitch will set the LNBs to the four combinations of high/low
and horizontal/vertical and switch them to an arbitrary number of
outputs (determined by the number of outputs on the switch).

WANTED: "Software CD ROM Kit" for Canon CLBP 360-PS printer (Canon
part no RH6-3612, or possibly RH6-3810, or RH6-3610 might do). I've a
dead HD and need this CD so I can replace the disk and re-install the
printer OS on it. If anyone knows where I might get hold of one I'd
be grateful - requests to Canon drew a blank, it's been out of
support for years.

Christmas stocking fillers. Some available as e-books.

Thanks Simon for the tip. For the current setup here I would need to upgrade
the LNBs too. Upgrading these LNBs is definately on my wish list and
probably gets done when the weather improves here. It is way too cold now to
be fiddling with a dish on the roof :-)
