Thanks for the link to the ticket describing the studio and colorspace filters. I also gather that colorspace filter is undergoing more changes to allow for more descriptive values than 0, 1, 2. Are these the only VDPAU specific custom filters? Ore are there more, or more coming?

Thanks for the clarification. As for the second item, I assume it's directly related to the ticket Kevin referenced. I looked at it and can see that the corresponding changeset is in trunk and not in 0.22-fixes.
