Anyone got module ieee1394 for FC7 x86_64 ?

Hi All,

I am trying to connect my FC7 Mythtv to an STB and
it looks like I need ieee1394 modules for that.

Googling revealed that getting them is a pretty
cumbersome excerise, so I am wondering of anyone
would be willing to share them. I'd be really
grateful.

TIA

Slava Imeshev

You will be looking for libraw1394 and libavc1394 (which includes
librom1394) which are the key words for you.

I did a quick search to get you going and found them at rpm.pbone.net.
Here is a link to point you in the right direction:

Thanks. Unfortunatelly, those are not that are needed. AFIAU I need
ieee1394.ko from package ieee1394-kmdl:

1) FC7 never existed, Core and Extras merged after Fedora Core 6,
everything after is just Fedora.

2) Fedora 7 went end-of-life over a year and a half ago.

3) The ieee1394 modules are *not* that hard to obtain, build and
install from source. http://user.in-berlin.de/~s5r6/linux1394/updates/

4) On a more modern kernel and userspace, you shouldn't need the
ieee1394 modules, as the firewire driver works just fine these days.
At least, it does for me.

Rather than trying to shoehorn bits on top of an ancient install, why
not put something, you know, supported, on there?

uname -r

Thanks!

Well, how about me not willing to spend a day of my life trying
to upgrade? :-) Just fired up yum update and it went into an infinite
cycle. So, it is *not* going to be a 1-hour excersize.

The rpm version dist tag still has a c for rpm versioning reasons --
'f7' is rpm-older than 'fc6'. The distro is indeed simply called
'Fedora' now. Just cat /etc/fedora-release to see for yourself.

Quite frankly, if you don't want to be bothered by upgrades, you're
running the wrong distribution. And if your firewire setup doesn't
work, nobody is likely to be able to help you much. But good luck.

You don't have to upgrade anything. Just backup your database, nuke your system
partitions and install a fresh FC12/whatever, restore your database and carry
on. Must be quicker and cleaner than upgrading that number of releases.
