Did you ever resolve this issue? I just upgraded mythbuntu, and I have the same gigabyte mainboard, and my audio disappeared. I never used HDMI, so in that way we vary. Best tidbit of info that I've found is that when I rmmod/insmod the snd_hda_intel driver, I get this out of my dmesg: [403357.232645] HDA Intel 0000:00:08.0: PCI INT A disabled [403397.057863] HDA Intel 0000:00:08.0: PCI INT A -> Link[AAZA] -> GSI 21 (level, low) -> IRQ 21 [403397.057898] HDA Intel 0000:00:08.0: setting latency timer to 64 [403397.612012] hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC889A, trying auto-probe from BIOS... [403397.628105] input: HDA Digital PCBeep as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:08.0/input/input7 [404279.540847] HDA Intel 0000:00:08.0: PCI INT A disabled So far the search for the "Unknown model" line yielded one reference, but no solutions. I am attaching the output of the 'alsa-info' script, since it may contain other useful tidbits. Cheers, ben
