DVD import problems

Hi,

I'm new to MythTV and I'm experiencing a few problems, one of which is importing DVDs. The Transcode fails during the import process at various points. I have been "tail"-ing both mythfrontend.log & mtd.log and find these during the transcode. I have so far been unable to import a DVD :-(

Currently my mythtv is sitting there telling me "Transcode is Thinking . . ." and has been for some time. Any help, pointers or tips would be great.

That looks to me like you're trying to copy a DRM'ed DVD. Many
commercial DVD's are created in such a way that reading them with a
computer DVD drive results in errors, providing a sort of
copy-protection--the only trade off being that doing so requires
violating the DVD spec (where content owners don't seem to be concerned
by such trivial matters as specifications). Myth has no support for
copying such DVD's--it aborts when a disk read error occurs.

So, what you have likely isn't a valid DVD--it's a RipGuard or ARccOS or
whatever abomination.
