MythTV logo

I was wondering if anyone could steer me the direction of where I could find
some large size
artwork of the MythTV logo to get stenciled into the side of a computer
case...

Though why you'd want a gaudy logo on the side of the case is anyone's
guess... ;)

Speaking of logos, ISTR some time back someone discussed the possibility
of small stick-on embossed logos. Am I dreaming?

It would be pretty cool to have a 1/2" x 1 1/2" or so stick on logo on
every Myth display - and one on the van which has a built in myth box......

google custom case badges produces this:

It took me a while to hit on the "custom case badge" magic incantation....

So what's the etiquette if I was to have some made?

Is the logo free to use? And, can I sell the badges 1) at cost or 2) at
a markup and donate the profit to the developers? Can I advertise on
this list?

I've always wanted a static cling logo for my car window. Tivo used to
come with them, don't know if they still do.

I guess I'm more of a generalist, my license plate says "UNIX".

I wanted to do that, but all I could get was EUNUCHS, but I didn't
want to drive around with that on my car.

I can certainly understand that. I was surprised I was able to get my plate,
but here in Wyoming there must be fewer Unix geeks than in New Jersey or New
York, both places I have lived. When I lived in Manhattan I did not want a
car, for obvious reasons.

The number of "what does Unix mean?" questions I get far exceeds the number of
people who understand it.

But I figured it was worth the $30 fee (one time, not every year).

We are limited to four letters here in Wyoming, so "Linux" was not a
possibility.

The plate is on a pickup truck, such registrations exceed the number of
passenger cars here in the boonies.

You must be in California or one of the few states that allow up to 7
characters.

'Linux' was taken - as was 'OPN SRC' - which almost made me swerve off
the road while cheering. 'NULL' was available for a while but I guess
I missed my opportunity.

'Tomcat' and 'Apache' were taken - so failing all of those 'MythTv' is
my favorite Open Source project.

I played with the idea of JDK1.6 or something but Sun doesn't need my support.

I once saw a Colorado plate "RD1TK2". I wasn't sure if it referred to the
infamous "ready one, take two" in the TV industry, then I noticed the plate
frame said "Ikegami", so I was sure. (Ikegami makes broadcast cameras and
monitors. They tried making consumer computer monitors many years ago, but
people wouldn't pay the price premium to get a very high quality monitor).

California is probably the home of the best vanity plates, probably because
they allow 7 (actually 7-1/2) characters. Most of the computer-related ones
are taken, no doubt because of the high number of computer-aware drivers.

My favorite California plate was:

INOV8IV

Followed closely by:

GR84AD8, driven by a typical California blonde woman.

Wyoming plates have a number representing the county on the left. Since I live
in Laramie County (number 2), a lot of plates like "2 FAST", "2 COOL" etc.
are around. It's like getting a free word. Sweetwater County (number 4) has a
similar situation.

My plate is actually "2 UNIX".

To show you how backward Wyoming is, it was only recently that they stopped
issuing new plates every year, and went to renewal stickers.

So "MYTHTV" would be allowed? I wonder if anyone has it. I would have tried
for it if it were a legal plate here.

I wonder if there's a national license plate database, come ot think of it
there probably is, but it's probably restricted to law enforcement or
other "official" uses.

Your states vanity plates database - ie: what's available - is
probably available online. It was in my state.

In Kansas the Vanity plates have been unique to each county so it was
possible to have 105 plates of the same letter number combination (up
to six, I believe) with the only difference being the two letter county
designation sticker. No longer. Legislation enacted last year now
limits a unique combination to the entire state. A lot of people will
be losing their vanity plates. I'm sure this was a move to simplify
things for the DMV and law enforcement. but it's going to cause the
state to lose a bunch of revenue at 50 bucks a pop when a number of
people opt to go back to a regular plate.

My amateur radio callsign is on my pickup which costs a whole $1 extra
per year.
