HVR-1600 on slave backend 'Unavailable'

So I got the HVR-1600 installed. It seems to be working, in that it was
able to scan channels and determine which ones were active and such, however
when the slave backend is running, the tuner still shows up as Unavailable
under system information.

Any idea why this would be?

Thanks,

Jeff

Still having trouble here. I don't see anything in the mythbackend log, or
in dmesg, or any other logfiles that mentions cx18 or ivtv. As far as I can
tell, everything's working, except that it isn't.. mythbackend isn't
complaining about anything, but mythfrontend shows the input as unavailable.

If I run mythbackend as a service, it seems to write to its log file, and
from there it looks like it's trying to connect to mysql on localhost, even
though it's configured to connect on a remote IP address. Any idea why that
is? mysqld on localhost is stopped, so there's no reason it should be
trying to connect locally.

I'm losing a few marbles here.... anyone have any to spare?

Re: HVR-1600 on slave backend 'Unavailable' [In reply to]

Ok, I think I might have a clue now, but i'm not sure how to resolve it. In
the mythbackend log, it says:

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

But /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock doesn't exist.

I'm not running mysql on my slave backend, so I don't know why it's trying
to connect to the local MySQL server rather than the master backend's
server.

It's a clue, but not a solution. In mythtv-setup on the Slave, I have the
Master Backend IP address set to the correct address of my master backend,
but it still seems to be trying to connect locally.

The fontend on the slave box has no problems connecting to the master
backend... why does the backend have trouble?
