uk Winter Hill Channel Scan Problem Mythbuntu 0.22

I stupidly updated to 0.22 a couple of days before Winter Hill changed
all its channels around yet again:) I am having big problems getting all
channels recognized.

All channels are recognized an can be tuned by Kaffeine with no problems
watching the video. I have tried various incantations of the channel
scanner, including All Channels and Rescan Existing Transports ignoring
timeout errors. The best result has been importing a channels.conf,
which has sorted out everything except Yesterday, Virgin1 and Virgin+1.

Yesterday appears in channels.conf and can be tuned OK with Kaffeine.
However, it doesn't appear in any channels imported into MythTV. Tuning
to Virgin results in the full LAM Locked with no BER, but times out with
video buffering errors. Again the channel works fine in Kaffeine.

Anyone else in the uk Winter Hill area managed to get these channels to
work correctly?

Ian.

Delete all channels and existing transports/frequencies then scan
using the specific transport option (i.e. not Full Scan, the option is
in the same list as Import channels.conf etc). Enter the following
frequencies one at a time selecting Next after each one. Leave all
the other settings as Auto. (If it helps for speed I just delete all
the records in the "channel" and "dtv_multiplex" tables via MySQL)

801833330
834166770
850166770
754166770
810000000

This works for me in MythTV 0.21fixes. Only 5 multiplexes listed as
the only thing left on the other multiplex is the Community Channel
and duplicated BBC channels.

For whatever reason MythTV generally always automatically picks up the
wrong frequencies (i.e. generally the wrong offset the last 6 digits).
This means you do not get lock on the channels etc.

If you still have problems with 0.22 I will fire up my test box and
reinstall if necessary and see if I can replicate.

Thanks. I'll try over the weekend if I can get access to the system for
a couple of hours!

Ian.

I'll have a look at this as well, given my current issues (see thread "Yet another
retune (and it's not working) - Granada region". My issue is failing to get any
channels from Mux C (Dave, Sky3 plus various others). It scans fine but gets the
wrong frequency for these channels, even when using a channels.conf which has the
correct frequency in it.

I'm on 0.21-fixes. I also get multiple copies of various BBC channels (3 + 4 plus
most of the radio stations).

The duplicated BBC channels is part of Digital Switch Over. Just do
not scan Mux C if you want a neat and tidy channel list in mythsetup.
The only frequencies you need are the ones in my previous post and it
should work.

But don't I need Mux C if I want Dave, Sky3 etc?

This is getting confusing splitting the same conversation over 2 separate threads now!

Sorry yes it is Mux B you do not need.
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1155874 has more
information and discussion. Mux B is being cleared and will basically
become the High Definition multiplex I believe come December.

The 5 multiplexes below are all you need unless you want the Community Channel.

Thanks that seems to have fixed it. I need to to a bit more testing, but
I can now get yesterday and Virgin OK.
