Downtime for my setup was just over an hour, my wife was very happy to see the new UI and themes in general. I'd say give it a try anyway. Do a qpkg media-video/mythtv x11-themes/mythtv-themes and whatever plugins you have, back-up the database and have a go for it. At worst, you spend 5 minutes installing the backed-up binaries if something goes awry. :)
