mythbuntu 9.10, multiple problems

Hello all. I upgraded from mythbuntu 9.04 to 9.10 using the update manager.

Now I have some issues:

1. Auto login doesn't work.

2. vdpau doesn't seem to work, even though i have nvidia 185 drivers
(geforce 9500 512mb card) - frontend just freezes and i have to kill it
from the command line

3. My pvr-500 recordings suddenly don't take up the full screen. There
is a big black border on both left and right sides, and a very small
black border on bottom. This is just all of a sudden and affects all
recordings done now and old recordings.

4. All fonts seem to be locked at small. Since my couch is about 15'
away from my tv, we increase the font sizes 3-4 pts, but that doesn't
seem to work anymore. Fonts in the watch recordings are small, the
guide, the osd, everywhere. Just can't seem to enlarge them.

5. Watch recordings screen no longer plays little video in the corner.
Now i just see a screen shot.

All of these issues are happening on both my master backent/frontend,
and my frontend laptop. Exactly the same issues!!!

Any ideas? Am I the only one who has encountered them? Any help is
greatly appreciated.

-Thanks
Steve

Mythbuntu-control-centre has options for that. It stopped working when I
upgraded as well. Just go in there and turn it on again.

I'm getting issues from VDPAU as well with 190.42. I need to get some time
to turn on debugging and see if I can isolate it. Software decoding is rock
solid on the one FE I have that can do it. My 9800GT seems to work OK, but
is unstable. The onboard 8xxx has a black "please wait" screen for about
10min before I give up. ATSC recordings and h264, both of which worked fine
in 9.04/.21-fixes+JYA repo. I suspect it's a driver/library issue, but I'm
not sure what yet. I have also tried the JYA testing repo, with similar
results.

I think the setting has changed. Check the settings screens.

Just doesn't exist at all, we don't have a MythUI video widget yet.

I also had this problem, however the config dialog in
mythbuntu-control-centre was 'locked' and it refused to unlock (for
me).

If you need to manually enable it, add this section to your
/etc/gdm/custom.conf file:

[daemon]
TimedLoginEnable=true
AutomaticLoginEnable=false
TimedLogin=<USERNAME>
AutomaticLogin=<USERNAME>
TimedLoginDelay=30

Of course, if that section already exists just add/update those
entries. Also note that I am doing a timed login, so change it
accordingly.

Logging in works, autostarting the frontend doesn't here ...

720p seems to play via vdpau, 1080 make people turn green :S

I used to have filling issues, now I switched to autofill, might take a
while to adjust, but I love it!

Only the fonts in the popup of bookmarks seem to be over here.

Never really noticed that.

One feature I really like is the storagegroups thingy, I fiddled with it
to switch it on and to my surprise I got artwork for frequently watched
serials like CSI and so on...
Lirc seems to be a bit buggy as well, but seems to get better with the
latest update from the mythbuntu team.

All in All I like it!

I needed to use the *root* password, the user password wouldn't work. I
actually had to go to a shell and use "sudo passwd root" to set a root
password as my install didn't have one. I found that odd as Ubuntu generally
uses the user password. Nothing wrong with editing the config files manually
though. :)

I'm planning to try that once I get things a little more stable. The down
side to it is that you can't use other player apps to play things, and I
have used mplayer in the past as the internal player didn't support all my
videos. The new version in .22RC is working a LOT better though, so I may
switch over. Of course, now I have all the directories NFS mounted properly
and can do it both ways, so I might not gain much for my current setup.

That is extremely odd.

Here is the bug regarding auto-login, along with how to resolve the issue:
