upnp playback on PS3 - audio track selection and subtitles

Dear mailing list,

I have been using Mythtv for a couple of years with great result. I have
a dedicated frontend box by my TV and the backend is running with two
DVB-C cards on my server.

This week I bought a PS3 partly because the support for upnp with
Mythtv. After some reading I got it working (it took a while to
understand that I needed an additional line in the routing table). As
far as I can see it is working great including HD playback (SVT HD).

I do have two questions:

1. Some of my recordings contain more than one audio track, Swedish and
English for example. How can I select audio track during upnp playback
on my PS3?

2. Is it possible to get subtitles working while upnp PS3 playback. On
my Mythtv frontend it works great.

Please note that I have no interest in running Linux on the PS3, I also
believe that the support has been removed with the slim variant I have.

/ Mikael

1. To change the audio track on the PS3, click the Triange and in the menu, go to the audio option, and it should cycle throught the tracks. It has worked for me, so if that doesn't work, I am not sure why. But this is with movies, not with recordings.

2. Again, there is a subtitles option in that menu, so try that. But this isn't something I have tried, so I can't say it works or not.

I can do that with an Xbox, but I have not yet figured out how to do it with a
PS3. If I figure it out I'll post it, and I'd ask you to please do likewise.

Correct, the "slim" machine can only run the Sony GameOS.

Question? All your recording's play, and you get audio? I have been
trying to get my PS3 to work, but i get no audio...
I did find a media server called Python Media server, that work's pretty
good if you don't mind installing Java..It works quite well and you can
even stream ripped DVD's with no studder..
If you did get myth recordings playing with out trancording could you
fill me in on the details?
Greg

I have about 300 recordings and I got it working this week so I have
only tried a couple, like 10 recording. Movies from Canal+, HDTV
material from SVT, cartoons and some other things, but the sound has
been OK.

The only things I did was.

- Introduce a path in "VideoStartupDir"
- Add upnp in verbose command line option
- Add a route for my internal nic (route add -net 239.0.0.0/8 eth4)

Please note that I only use DVB recordings (anysee E30C), I have no
PVR-150 card (or similar) or any software encoding cars. So, I guess
that must of my recordings are very similar, except from SVT HD.

My versions are :
- PS3 runs firmware 3.0 (I think, I have a slim and the latest firmware)
- Gentoo linux kernel linux-2.6.27-gentoo-r7
- Mythtv:

If you like you could send me a recording. I cloud then try to play it.
My guess is however that it will also fail. As you can see have I not

Ok thanks, I must be missing something then. I will have to dig into it
deeper..If it works for you then it should work for me also.. I have 3
sources for recordings,HD-PVR,Pvr-150,and a HDHR.. I had it working ,but
there has been a lot of firmware updates since then and i suspect Sony
has changed something..
Thanks again...
