database - recorded programs "Unknown" on mythfrontend - but not on MythWeb

My main HDd died on BE. Replaced and everything booted fine. Started
mythfrontend on BE to check and noticed that only a few programs were
listed and the program list in All Programs were labeled UNKNOWN. I
figured the dB had been compromised so I backed it up and imported a
old one. Start of the FE and same thing.
Hmmm...
Switch to a separate frontend (separate PC) and the program recording
listing looks fine. Switch to MythWeb Recorded Programs and it looks
fine too.
I go back the BE and start up FE and same thing: the All Programs
listing shows all UNKNOWN.
So, what gives on running FE on the BE that it would show something different?
