Replay or Tivo hardware with Myth?

Crazy question crossed my mind...does anyone know if the hardware in the
ReplayTV or Tivo box would be compatable with MythTV? I.e.: by a Replay
box without service, trash the OS, and load Linux / Myth....

If it would work, it'd make for cheap hardware.....

This question has been on the archives in the past, do a search... but, in
general, i think the answer was "no" ....not because linux couldnt be used,
but more because the hardware to encode/decode captures on tivo is so
specialized it would take a lot of reverse engineering to do...

Tivo works so well I think it would be crime... ;-) even without
service it's a really good pvr and timeshifter.
I do think there is a hack out there to provide epg data without
service for the tivo....
Replay I believe is a more proprietary sw/hw combo than the tivo-linux
solution. So probably even more unlikely to be easily lobotomized.
