Importing playlists to Mythmusic

Hi, Have searched for this and have been unable to find an answer...
I have MythTV frontend and backend installed on my main PC, to be used
'occasionally' as a media centre when "entertaining" etc. Have got about
50GB of mp3s in 2 different areas, sorted in the standard artist/album
directories, with an m3u playlist in each directory. What I want to do
is setup MythMusic to use these playlists, WITHOUT importing/moving
anything to anywhere....
I am at the moment using Vista/Mediaportal, and this works quite well,
but would prefer a linux setup if possible. The PC dual boots
Vista/Ubuntu8.10 (or Suse), and I spend >95% of my time in Linux, only
using Vista for the Media Centre. In Ubuntu/Suse I prefer to use Amarok
just to play music, and this also works with the current music setup.
Any advise appreciated.
Thanks, John

Well mythmusic wont' import/move anything, it just populates its
database with music location and metadata.

Point mythmusic to a directory that contains symbolic links to your
two music locations and scan for new music.

I've never scanned playlists though, so I'm not sure how that will work out.

It can't use those playlists. I believe there is a script somewhere
that will create MythMusic playlists based on those m3u playlists, but
frankly if they are just album or artist based lists there is probably
no point: it's easy to select a particular album or artist to play in
MythMusic without having a playlist already defined.

MythMusic's interface takes a bit of getting used to. If you're only
planning on using Myth for music you might find it easier to use
something else.

Cheers,
Steve

Hmmm. Now if only I knew anything about python.... I get a script with
line numbers at the front?? and if I try to run it I get:

john[at]boss:/home/share$ python mythmusic_import1.py
File "mythmusic_import1.py", line 13
13 import logging, optparse, os.path, re, sys
^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax
john[at]boss:/home/share$

so I am not having much luck.....
Thanks, John.

I know nothing about python, but I've not used a programming language that
wanted line numbers since I programmed the zx81 / spectrum.

I'd say removing the line numbers would be a good start :-)

Robert.

I guess you used copy/paste from the webpage? Instead click the "Raw"
link/button at the top of the page - that'll download the file without
the line numbers.

Cheers,
Steve
