Axim PDA

I have a dell axim that I have been itching to use with mythtv for
years. I really want to have streaming video to it over 802.11b - it
should be enough bandwidth as it works 95% of time for mythfrontend
proper on my eeepc.

With the new release of mythweb I thought finally it was going to work.
But no joy. I started by commenting out some lines in mythweb to stop it
going into mobile/small screen mode. Upon trying to load the full
recordings page - it wouldn't finish. To much going on the for the
crappy internet explorer on the pda.

I then picked a few links from the recordings page and turned them into
a page more suitable for a pda (no graphics / css for example). An
example link is:
http://XXXX:80/mythweb/pl/stream/4106/1216245600.asx

The links started to work and fired up windows media player - but no
joy. The pda wouldn't play them.

Any suggestions? Obviously the pda cannot play evil flash. I want
something to work on the fly - that doesn't need to have tv shows being
transcoded after recording unless I really have to.

Thanks in advance.

I would try installing VLC media player and try it again. AFAIK windows
player will not play our files without a transcode. VLC will stream from
mythtv just fine plus its fairly light weight.

Thanks for the advice Bill, but I have already tried VLC.

I never managed to make it work. Besides its not really what I want - I
want something that apache can be in control of. VLC server isnt so good
in this respect.
I may continue down the asx route and see if I can find another client
instead of windows media player.
Just a pity my perl isn't very good otherwise I would have a look at the
mythweb code.
