Just a random thanks to the devs

5 years after starting to use MythTV (after a brief flirtation with
Freevo) and it's still running wonderfully. Upgraded the kernel on my
MBE yesterday 1 hour before the Olympics Opening Ceremony, installed the
Atrpms video4linux-ivtv-kmdl RPMS which weren't available for CentOS 5.2
for a while, got 1 of my tuners back in use, and I'm in DVR heaven.

1 * HD 3000, 2 * PVR-150 (direct feed), 1 * PVR-250 (DCT-2000), 1 *
Firewire (DCT-6200), 400GB drive (to which I might add a few hundred
gigs today during the 2-hour window between 6-8PM PDT when nothing is
recording), and the grooviness continues. I just told it to record
*EVERYTHING* then locked out a few that I didn't want to watch...

Thank you all.

-I (am loving this.) ;)

Hear, hear. I don't even have digital TV reception or a DVD player, just the
MythTV box now. It might not be smooth as silk, but it's pretty great. And
since I showed my girlfriend how it can tape every ER on every channel, she
loves it too!

Widget.

Same here.

Indeed. I'm not sure how I'd watch TV without my Myth box now!

On a related note, I installed a MythBuntu frontend onto a 2Gb USB pen
drive on a spare PC at the weekend, pointed it at my existing backend and
now I have a fully working myth setup in the bedroom as well as
downstairs.

I was amazed at how polished MythBuntu is - very slick install and config
process.

Robert.

I think I expressed my thanks in other messages, but if not, then I'll
add mine here as well. I began playing with Mythbuntu two weeks ago
and as of about five days ago I got it to the point of being a
scheduling DVR (due to my DirecTV STB control issue) and it worked
flawlessly this weeknd, I started with Mythbuntu 8.04.1 and I'm
impressed with their work as well as the work of the Myth developers.

The only outstanding issue is unrelated to Myth as my old TV doesn't
like a direct connection to S-Video using an adapter cable so I bought
an Averkey Micro which works well enough except that the colors are
gradiated and the video seems to be more jerky and pixelized than via a
computer monitor. Perhaps by Christmas I can budget a new LCD TV. :-)

Yeah really, thanks so much to all who work on Myth. It really is an amazing
thing, my non-techy family are blown away whenever I show them all the neato
tricks she can do ;)
